GO.COM RISES FROM THE DEAD 
Strange days, indeed: the Walt Disney Co. announced yesterday that it was,

uh, just kidding about closing its Go.com portal. Not only will Go.com 
stay 
alive, but it will be powered by GoTo.com, a former competitor that 
settled 
a copyright infringement suit with Disney last spring, reports the Wall 
Street Journal (subscription required). (Previously, Go had been powered 
by 
Infoseek). Two months ago, Disney reported that it would close Go and lay 
off 400 employees. The Journal doesn't disclose whether the new 
incarnation 
of Go will require new employees, but it does report that the new Go will 
be 
automated, displaying headlines from Disney-owned sites like ABCNews.com 
and 
ESPN.com. CNET (via the New York Times) also covers the reincarnated 
Go.com.
