Free at Last: ScreamingMedia-Premedia Partnership Unlocks Content's Value
for Magazine Publishers

Magazine publishers that have content trapped in proprietary publishing
systems now have the key to multipurposing and distributing that content,
for greater brand visibility and revenue opportunities.

Thanks to a partnership between ScreamingMedia and the Premedia
Technologies unit of R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company, magazine publishers
now can transform print content into electronic content and distribute it
through private or general syndication channels to meet subscribers' needs
for specific information.

The value to publishers of magazines and trade journals is unparalleled.
Using Premedia Technologies' services, publishers can convert content from
application files such as Quark into formats like XML or HTML. Publishers
can then use ScreamingMedia's Syndication!Connect service and its
technology platform to parse, normalize, categorize and integrate
converted content directly into the platforms of their subscribers, or
they can syndicate their content through ScreamingMedia's vast global
digital content network.

"Our publishing customers are the real winners in this partnership," said
Mary Lee Schneider, president of Premedia Technologies for R.R. Donnelley.
"We provide the means to convert and store their content, and
ScreamingMedia provides the filtering and integration technology. As a
result, publishers effortlessly gain opportunities to extend the value of
their content while at the same time developing new revenue streams."

Kevin Clark, chief executive officer of ScreamingMedia, said, "R.R.
Donnelley's magazine publishing customers will have the opportunity to
extend their brands from print to private content syndication with a
one-stop effort through the advanced technology of both our companies. It
also provides the publishers in our digital content network a resource to
unlock their Quark assets through Premedia Technologies' content
repurposing capabilities. ScreamingMedia then can syndicate these assets
resulting in greater revenue for our publishers."

SiteWare™ to Ship With IBM WebSphere Portal Server

Users of IBM's WebSphere Portal Server, which enables companies to build
next generation web sites, now have direct access to fresh, relevant
content via ScreamingMedia's software, under the terms of an agreement
between the two companies.

ScreamingMedia's SiteWare™, a client-side publishing and integration
application, will be included with WebSphere Portal Server, along with a
30-day free trial of ScreamingMedia's robust content products. Following
the trial period, WebSphere Portal Server customers will have the
opportunity to purchase any of ScreamingMedia's technology and content
services.

Once WebSphere Portal Server is implemented, customers will have the
ability to use SiteWare to publish and integrate their own internal
content or third-party content. In addition, enterprises will have the
opportunity to use ScreamingMedia's Content!Connect service to manage the
processing and integration of all their privately licensed third-party
feeds through SiteWare.

"When creating WebSphere Portal Server, we knew we needed to partner with
companies that could provide both the content expertise and technological
resources to make this a seamless offering," said Larry Bowden, vice
president, e-portal solutions, IBM Software Group. "Including
ScreamingMedia's technology with WebSphere Portal Server will allow us to
offer customers and their end-users an outstanding content opportunity."

For Mobile Operators, a New Way to Enrich the Customer Experience

The combination of cutting-edge content services and industry-leading
mobile Internet products promises great things for mobile operators. The
joined forces of ScreamingMedia and Lucent Technologies make good on that
promise.

As a new member of Lucent's Mobile Internet Cooperative Innovations(SM)
program, ScreamingMedia will integrate its content and technology services
into Lucent's MiLife™ Media Platform, a new product that enables mobile
operators to quickly launch revenue-generating media applications and
services.

With this integration, ScreamingMedia's global digital content network and
best-of-breed filtering technology will enhance the voice-browsing and
translation, audio content aggregation, alerting and streaming
capabilities of the MiLife Media Platform. As a result, mobile operators
will be able to offer customers highly personalized media services and
applications on current and third-generation (3G) wireless networks.

"By partnering with Lucent, ScreamingMedia is able to further leverage our
suite of technology and content services to more leading mobile operators,
worldwide," said Steven Spencer, CTO of ScreamingMedia. "Lucent conducts
business with some of the leading companies in the world and these
companies understand the value of delivering highly personalized content
to their customers."
